The Dream, The World’s Refugees Crisis by Fabio Bucciarelli at the Bronx Documentary Center

ON VIEW
March 10th – 27th, 2016

Syrian woman looks at the sea in Kizkalesi, 60 Km west of Mersin, Turkey, while hoping to be embarked soon on a ship headed to Europe, January 29, 2015. Many refugees fled from the Syrian conflict wait in hotels along the Turkish coast near Mersin for the smugglers to call them and embark them clandestinely towards Europe.

Fabio Bucciarelli has spent five years documenting the causes and consequences of the largest refugee migration since World War II. In The Dream, Bucciarelli tells the stories of those who have fled the wars in Syria, Libya, Afghanistan and beyond. His photographs reveal the refugees’ humanity and shows the strength of people who are sustained by a dream to be free of war, to find safety, to recover their dignity and to once again build meaningful lives.
