PARIS IS BURNING, screening at the Bronx Documentary Center on Friday August 10th

Talk to the Screen:
PARIS IS BURNING

Friday, August 10th at 8:30PM
Organized by Michael Paul Britto, Andrew Bui, and Jessica Ann Peavy

Paris is Burning, explores issues of race, class, gender and homophobia while offering a detailed examination of New York City’s intricate Ball culture, in which participants are judged for their style and etiquette is stripped from the environment as viewers are encouraged to interact with the screen. Talking, expression.
In this screening of Jennie Livingston’s acclaimed documentary, proper cinema watching singing, dancing (voguing) and other forms of engagement are expected from the audience while simultaneously viewing the film. This experience aims to generate an immediate response and encourage dialogue and interaction around the themes that are raised in the film.
After party with DJ Michael Paul Britto

Suggested donation $5. Students free.

Please stay posted for additional films and events.
